The flying this weekend at our local Berga and Girona sites just didn't happen to plan. I'm not sure if Geoff and Judith have brought British weather back with them or Tim the honorary Icelander is to blame ;-). There again it could have been the fault of all the pesky paramotorers out in force for the Catalan championship.
The Tranmuntana wind caused all sorts of freaky conditions. The 1ª and 2ª Maria -just 1km apart- had 180degree different wind directions, dust devils spun uncontrollably across the mat on launch and the wind strength increased from 10km to 40km in minutes!
It gave me plenty of opportunity to chat with the Irish Radio journalist who came over to interview me for a show about the exploits of myself and Ewa in Australia last year.
Its Bolet season so the country lanes are heaving with shiny 4x4's lovingly brought out for the annual trip to the mountains and carelessly abandoned in every gateway, verge and often in the middle of the track to launch.
You would think that Bolets are dangerous wild beasts given the hunting gear and large sticks sported by the visitors from Barcelona. But then again given the hordes who descend each morning perhaps the sticks are to beat off rival bolet-eers!
You can't even nip behind a bush on launch for a sneaky pee without being rumbled by hordes of basket-wielding bolet hunting Catalans at the moment.
By the time I get back at the end of the month hopefully the sun will still be shining and status-quo will be restored!

We won't take any responsibility for the crap weather at the weekend! The winds came from the NW, so from Iceland. To prove it was Tim's fault, look at the weather today. He's gone home and it's hot sunny and epic flying conditions.
:o)

'fraid I have to agree. I seem to be a curse :-(
