1st morning in Bogota...

I arrived last night in Bogota after some small last minute anxiety when my ticket name and passport name didn't match and the airline said I may not be able to fly. It was an uneventful flight - the best kind I think! I love the Hispanic attitude to vegetarianism, the choice of food on the plane was 'pollo o carne' - chicken or meat - so when I asked if they had a veggie meal they said, sure and gave me the chicken ;) !
The queue in immigration was huge with 6 other 767's all having arrived at the same time, so after 1 hour+ of shuffling I finally arrived at the desk of a serious looking chap with a big gun who took my passport and wanted to know the address and phone number of where I am staying in Colombia..hmmm good question! He had a sense of humour failure that all I knew was that I was going to Roldanillo for a Pre World Cup y nada mas. After much waving of hands and shrugging of shoulders and reading me the riot act about not expecting help I was finally stamped into the country. Denis Cortella arrived at the same time and had a similar experience made more exciting by the fact that he didn't even know what town we are headed for!
Felipe, the brother of the competition organisor picked us up and whisked us off for dinner / breakfast depending on your time zone. Pizza for breakfast - yum! I have to mention here that Denis had the biggest chicken ceasar salad I have ever seen, it was at least 6inches tall, his mother will be proud that he scoffed the lot! A few more of them may help with the ballast requirements for the new Boom7 he is flying this week :-0
Then off to sleep the night at a massive apartment in Bogota before we fly this morning to Periera just 1 1/2 hours drive from Roldanillo.
The news is that Colombia is having a heat wave so we are expecting 35+ degrees temperatures and thermals to make me squeal like a girl! :-) I can't wait....
