Nea using the organisation transport!
Its tasking by letters so far this week, yesterday the route was shaped as a 'Z' and today a 'U'.
The sky this morning was pretty cloudy and looked even worse to the east but by the time we arrived on the newly mowed launch at 08:10 the sun was shining, birds were singing and fluffy white clouds were popping up all over the place.
After a few tellings-off in task briefing for yesterdays misdemeanours and congratulations for the winners we opened window at 10:45 with start 1 hour later.
Launch motivation here is different from any comp I have been too, Daniel Vallejo takes off as the window opens and then ALL the other pilots sit and watch for 15 minutes before making a rush as start approaches!
At 12:05 the back wind started very gently and apart from a few cycles up the slope the wind was very light and changeable for the late pilots - most of who were not in any hurry to launch or even didn't actually want to launch. As the final minutes approached one very committed young female pilot who had waited patiently clipped in for nearly 40 minutes was rewarded with a perfect cycle with 2 minutes to go. The flurry of guys rushing to their packed wings was hilarious!
Launch director, Nea, and I raced down the mountain and over to goal to see the first gaggle landed in just 2hour 5minutes with Denis Cortella in front. Driving down I was so envious, the sky looked perfect :-) and we were then greeted with 80+ happy people in goal over the next hour.
Talking to Claudia later, the Hangdangler pilots on a launch close to us were not able to get away as the backwind set up at 11:15.
It looks like we got things right today! :-)
I'd better get my act together now to get back to HQ, to deal with final check-in and all that boring but important stuff...and then later Denis is debriefing the last 2 tasks for the pilots interested in the secrets of his success. Hasta la proxima!
