The legend of the Thunderbird

Believe it or not the Thunderbird isn't just a classic American car nor was it invented by Mozilla!
I have just discovered that the Thunderbird is a Native American legend staring a huge bird who creates thunder by flapping his wings and fires lightening bolts from his eyes.
And guess what? I'm going to fly with him, or at least with the nearest living alternative, the very rare Californian Condor upon which many believe the legend was based. HOW GOOD IS THAT? !! :))
The Californian Condor is largest flying bird in the United States with a wing span over 3metres. This incredible raptor was nearly made extinct by hunting and poisoning but over recent years breeding programs have raised chicks that have been reintroduced into the wild in the Monterey National Parks and Big Sur.
So... the plan so far is that I go out to California in April to soar with the Condors at Big Sur, thermal with them in the Pinnacles National Park and then scoot over to the Grand Canyon to see what we can film of the colony over there. That will be one of those 'don't look down' kind of flights!
It's all come about following the Wedgetail Eagle attack 3 years ago in Australia and the documentary I made with Discovery Channel. Who would have thought that I'd go from the snivelling heap in a paddock immediately after the attack, to sci-fi productions in California!
