Last task

Nicky Moss in Brasil
Yesterday the sky was full of cute fluffy clouds in the distance as we went up to launch. Finally a happy flying day!
By the time we had had briefing there were a few cumi's above launch and a 64km triangle task was set.
The launch here has its challenges since its quite flat with a cliff in front so lots of dead air and rotor. Given my inexperience with the Mercury, she dumped me on my ass a couple of times...though i wasn't alone by any means!
When I did launch, I had somehow (still don't know exactly how) managed to get the dual brakes twisted through the risers and despite lots of fiddling and trying to collapse the glider I couldn't get it free. I did manage to 'convince' Goran into a left hand turn on a right-hand day so that I could try to get it released while turning but its wasn't to be, so very disappointed I had to land. The task looked great though some big shadow later in the day made the last transitions difficult for some pilots who either lost time or missed the final tp.
Its on one the most frustrating afternoon ever sitting in the goal field watching everyone flying overhead in a beautiful sky. I probably wasn't very sociable last night!!!
Aljaz Valic was a convincing winner almost 5 minutes ahead of Cecilio, though his glide did look a bit optimistic at times from my view sitting on the line!!
A great result for DJ Red coming second overall in his first World Cup only just behind Urban with Aljaz in 3rd.
Kamira managed a first chica in goal to take 3rd behind Orlane and Elisa.

Today I'm going free flying :-) before heading home tomorrow night from Rio.

And.....Xavier officially announced that we have the World Cup in Roldanillo next January :-)))
I can't wait to be back in Colombia again.....
