New Year Madness!
Johnny jumping from Susqueda dam today.
A lovely sunny day so off we went for our first flight of the year. Judith and I were just set up ready to launch when the 'T-30' call came in...much to the complete bewilderment of the other pilots we packed up again and rushed off leaving a perfectably flyable hill and making excuses about an 'excursion'.
It was politically incorrect to reveal our intentions since one of the local 'Mossos' was on launch and even though it was his day off he might be morally obliged to prevent the planned excitement.

Johnny in action!
The build up was really tense as Johnny rigged, ducking and hiding from passing tourists who might call the police. The actual jump was amazing - just 2 seconds of free-fall from the 135m dam wall. We all squealed/swore as things didn't go exactly to plan when the canopy stalled and pendulumed him back towards the dam before surging and flying again. See the uncut video here  ;-)
After the 5 seconds of true adrenaline we scurried back to Sta. Brigida for an afternoon of floating, thermalling and scurrying around certain 'aerial road-blocks'!
