The run-up to World Cup is hectic as always!
Yesterday, we needed to find some new goal fields since many of the 'old' favourites are still inundated with flood water or have 3m high sugar cane and maize still uncut.
The 'rain-event' disaster that hit Colombia in the final months of 2010 is still evident throughout the valley. In Colombia 300 people lost there lives in addition to the many thousands who suffered damage to their homes and livelihood as 700,000 hectares of crops were washed away.

Heading south towards la cantera

After 8 hours and 600+ kilometers we located some acceptable goal fields although they are maybe not as pretty as they might be, but we can be sure they have been thoroughly washed!
Arriving at the final goal field in the dark we were attacked by low-flying biting insects..
Note to self:don't wear a short skirt for night-time goal scouting adventures! Although, this morning is was commented by the ever tactful mister X that it may just be that my legs are too short and not that the insects were low flying!

We are making preparations for inscripcion starting at 15:00. Lots of printing, renaming .wpts and some scratching of heads as a goalfield appears to be 366km away, instead of the 130ish that it is in reality!
Pal Takats has just been 'infinitly' throwing his glider around the sky in a spectacular acro-show above the town to the delighted / fearful screams of the local people.

I now need to write notes for the General Briefing tonight and work out a strategy for keeping the speeches of the regional Governor and local mayor within the boredom threshold of us all! ;-)
A few meetings with the PWCA and our launch and goal teams and then hopefully time for a quick splash in the HQ pool before we get the show on the road!

Its a fun and happy life!

Sounds like you're having a great time.

Tell Mr X that your legs are not so short you can't kick high enough to reach some sensitive regions!

Will be glued to the results - if/when the web site works again.

Lots of hugs,
Jx
