An exciting day ... we started up to the mountain in sunshine and arrived in shadow and then waited for an hour in the rain!
The first guys to launch just before / in the rain got away - although 1 with his glider in a tree
Next a tandem who launched with a big knot and then got rained on on the glide out, he hit the house thermal stalled, spun and threw the rescue. Thankfully both passenger & pilot are both 100% ok.
Then Judith flew out on a very wet wobbly unpressued wing followed closely by me. As I was crossing the power cables the wing tip suddenly flapped directly under and in front of me after what felt like a hit from above but was actually a big asymmetric collapse ... at that point it finally accurred to me that we were flying in the rotor! While waiting for the rain to stop the Pacific wind had come in :(
A short flight and a lesson learned! ;-)
Bring on tomorrow! :)
