Wednesday/Thursday: Waking to the noise of coffee beans being weighed became the alarm-clock of the last days ... then picking fresh mandarinas from the tree below the swimming pool followed by breakfast of huevos pericos and GOOD Colombian coffee overlooking a paradise of plantain & coffee plants in the Manizales hills.
I am at home :) in the hill-top home of my Colombian family. There is no place that could be more relaxing right now ... a couple of days of bliss with Hugo & Maira in their little paradise, aptly named El Eden. If I ever want to run away from life and the world in general this will be where I come!
Its a rest day from flying for the visiting group of British pilots ;-)
jejejeje... put 10 totally inexperienced horsemen on Colombian mountain ponies with enough Aguadiente and Rum to sink an armada, shake in the saddle for an hour or three, dunk in a mountain side swimming pool for 30 minutes, feed and marinade in cerveza and then do it all again... the result = total chaos and severe hangovers but thankfully no major injuries!
For me it was a fantastic day on a lovely little horse riding through coffee and plantain farms in the sunshine. Trying to forget the rampaging maniacs drinking & smoking on horseback became part of my own little adventure with Palomo, my 4 footed partner for the day.
Learning something about coffee cultivation, 25 year growth cycles (otherwise coffee plants grow too tall to be harvested effectively) and the 3 trunked grandmother, mother and child plantains kept me intruiged but ask 'los borrachos' and they probably wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about! ;-)
