The most stunning flying site ever that (most of ;-) ) you will never before have heard of ... Chicamocha Canyon!

How come I have never heard of this canyon? Depending on the technical criteria you use to measure its the 2nd biggest in the world after the Grand Canyon, 227km long & 2km deep in places. And yet virtually no-one has heard of it!
Today with the lovely 'paravolar colombia' brothers we were the lucky people to use a newly made start place right in the centre of this amazing canyon system.
It really is the most stunning of all the stunning places I have ever flown, mainly because once you are flying you are in the middle of it all ... you don't just look at it, its all around you, at times above you and mainly below you.
Luckily for us it was a super smooth day so flying with brakes in 1 hand taking fotos was easy :) I'm told its not normally so relaxing!
After some cruising around I decided to land at the river to get a feel for the scale of it all but after losing just 300m+ altitude the wind was significantly stronger ... its usually a very early site because of the extreme valley winds after midday... so I ran bravely away back to my last climb and back upstairs to the top to land.

A day/flight I will never forget and for sure I will be back ... hasta la proxima Chicamocha! :)
