Hot & stormy in Manilla

I arrived in Manilla yesterday afternoon to 39degree heat & a cold cider waiting for me on the bar in the Royal - Life doesn't get much better than that!
The first night is always the most difficult to sleep through, but after a few drinks & a radio interview with BBC radio Leicester I managed to crash out for at least 2 1/2 hours! Wide awake a 2am I caught up with some work & after chatting with mark managed to sleep through to 8am.... a record first night sleep!
The sky was full of cumulus congestus today so Paul & I decided to get our gliders & harnesses sorted out followed by a spot of ground handling in the breeze of an approaching gust front. My new glider is lovely but i'm a bit scared of the trimmers.....i think I'll stay well away from them!
As i'm writing the thunderclaps and lightening are getting closer & rain is sploshing down on the tin roof of the pub - the locals are all ecstatic - they want a week of solid rain. The local reservoirs are down to less than 10% capacity & fields are dry dust bowls. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the rain, if it does come, falls in Manilla while we are competing 600 km away in Killarney, Queensland in 10 days time. It would be nice to come back to a greener fresher Manilla in February.....
