German Open day 3 : On the buses!

A forecast of instability and thunderstorms by 14:00 was pretty accurate but we went up to launch anyway, had an immediate briefing and thankfully were told the task was cancelled. A few pilots decided to fly down arriving in town just before the first thunderclap and rain at 14:16.

The journey up and down the hill was the highlight of the day with our lady busdriver totally unaccustomed to taking a 52 seater up the winding hairpins and through the narrow stone bridges on the Peña Negra road.
The handwaving, swearing and cursing at her colleagues was reaching epic proportions by the time we neared the top and the first rain drops fell.
As we waited in the driverless bus (she needed a few 'medicinal' cigarettes to calm the nerves!) to go back down Mali decided that he would take charge and spent 5 minutes fiddling with knobs and switches trying to start the thing. He really wasn't too impressed with our 'conductora's' use of the automatic gearing and decide to oversee the descent. After a few rapid gear changes on her behalf he was told on no uncertain terms to get his ass back on his seat, but being Mali shrugged it off and continued the supervision duties alarming us with tales of bus crashes due to improper use of automatic hydraulic systems.. thats what i think he was ranting about anyway as Polish language quickly overtook the English as he got excited.
A quick internet moment at the Panera bar and then back home to Almohalla before the rain becomes too torrential.
Tomorrow looks like being a good day with light southerleys and plenty of sun :-)... fingers and everything else are crossed for a good first task.
