From the sublime to the ridiculous....

Take me back to La Palma...PLEASE!
We left the hotel in Adeje at 9am today & I have just arrived back 10 1/2 hours later after a flight of less than 30 minutes! Unfortunately the not-so-real-world has struck us again..a dis-organisation that has to be experienced to be believed.
A 41km task was eventually set after we had waited around for hours in a random sports centre and then on launch with none of the expected lunch packets, so we were all hungry, thirsty & pretty cranky...especially the French guys who were most grumpy 'sans le piknik'!
The wind was much stronger than expected and put about 20 of us on the ground inside the start cylinder in a random field far from the official landing / goal before the start had even opened. The lead gaggle of Tony, Jean-Marc & Ivan followed swiftly after only just beating the 2nd gaggle in a race to the ground. For some unaccountable reason we were then transported and abandoned in a carpark near the beach where the promised bar wasn't open and left to sort ourselves out. After a 45 minute walk back to the apartment with my glider some of the tension has evaporated but I'm saving the rest for a 'discussion' tomorrow...
PS. Neil has just arrived back after stalling into a quarry to land and then having to download in the before-mentioned carpark by the light of a single laptop screen. He's now playing macrami unknitting lines, patching holey bits & de-quarrying his glider in the living room; but at least we have light, food & plenty of vino........

It seems we are light years from the casual holiday-flying feeling of last weeks DesafĂo where we strolled down to the beach midmorning, had a picnic thrust into our hands and were spirited to launch, flew a little & then sat drinking beer on the avenida. :-)

Suddenly I stopped blaming on my work that kept me from joining El Taucho... Javier's and Susan's organization is simply the best, full stop.
