Day 1: Weather 1- Competition 0

I was woken in the night by rain on the roof - it hasn't rained here in over 4 months but we all know the curse of the paragliding competition!
We arrived on launch at 09:30 after a 40minutes drive in the rain to wind blowing over the back and cloud enveloping the mountainside. We are at the 'traditional' Roldanillo launch today, a much bigger and generally far better place to be for a competition of this size.
After an hour sat underneath the PVC task board to shelter from the rain we called it a day and ran bravely away to the sunshine and humdity in Roldanillo town. This afternoon we had a full organisation meeting followed but general pilot briefing - it seems like the plan is finally coming together :-)
They are taking security very seriously now that the competition has started, we are nearly outnumbered by the toy-soldiers, though I wouldn't say that face-to-face, they have serious looking guns!
Off to bed now to cope with the 06:30 wake up before going up the hill at 07:30.. they don't work on Spanish time here ;-)
