It was fairly cloudy this morning as Heinz the 'other' Swiss Colombian collected me to go up to launch. Once at Finca Bello Horizonte the wind was pretty much as last night so instead of faffing thinking it might drop I launched into beautiful laminar air. Theres something about this place - all my launches have been so perfect I actually don't recognise myself! We had a prolonged top to bottom flight which I nearly scratched my way out of 50m above the landing field but a hefty collapse at low level threw me out and I had to land. Some of the guys from last week were waiting to go up & threw back at me my repeated cry of 'zero puntos por la manga' for not staying with it ;-) !
Going back up again the sun had broken through rewarding us with silky smooth gentle climbs so I played a while thermalling with a chap on a Mercury before heading off to do some exploring over 'Hacienda el ParaĆso' and the area to the north. Gentle thermalling with the vultures, tropical forest and views of huge waterfalls - the place is really beautiful. And, I 'won' 1000 points in that flight for staying higher than them for longer ;-)
Heinz broke the Colombian distance record last week with a flight of 164km so once back in Eden, I spent some time educating him in the wonderful world of gps track downloads, record submissions and online contest entries. Hopefully we have everything sorted out so that the record can be verified.
I'm leaving for Cali in 10 minutes..maybe I'll get a sneaky flight in Bogota tomorrow - heres hoping!
!! Hasta la proxima, Valle de Cauca !!
