Its been a frustrating couple of weeks for me with an infection after my knee surgery and not being allowed to do much at all. But yesterday I finally escaped for the afternoon to get a flying fix of a more feathery kind.
This beautiful young Harris Hawk is one of a pair who have just moved in at my local flying site in Berga :-)
Scott Mason has just started getting Heckle and Jeckle acclimatised to life here by a daily introduction to the goings on around and about Can Ballus. Yesterday, the car training session was obviously very hard work for Scott!
Scott is hoping that the birds are the new stars of his Parahawking venture here in the Pyrenees but its very early days, he has yet to find out what a hunting bird will do when released above the mountainsides dotted with huge numbers of rabbits, lizards, mice and other tasty 'bird snacks'.
Its going to be really interesting to follow their progress up-close...
