Task 5

A task from the lower launch today with some pretty strong wind - again!
For a while, the congestion in front of launch was manic as pilots grovelled in ridge lift and scrappy thermals. I felt there was no option but to suspend launch for a short while, fortunately the waiting pilots seemed to be in agreement and no-one complained.
The climbs over on the plateau were equally scrappy, many pilots found this became their discard day as the hit the deck before the high ground at the main launch.
Only 1 pilot called level 3 during the task but the 'chat' on the way home was of dangerous conditions, excessive ground speeds and too much turbulence....so where were the other safety reports, guys???????
After being dropped off to wait at a local bar, tea and I-fones kept the children of all ages and sizes occupied ;-)

A late retrieve from halfway down the course saw us arriving back in Pamukkale well after dark after leaving many more pilots still in the back-end of nowhere waiting additional retrieve buses. Once again, I was running around like a headless-chicken trying to chase up non-reported pilots. It seems we caused meltdown of the local phone system this afternoon, so many sms's just didn't get through the queue before task deadline...others were found sleeping back in their hotels 4 hours after deadline still unreported and undownloaded! The 'witch' is soon to make another appearance.......
