A couple of days ago I received an email from Dirk from Berlin to say he was travelling through from Vitoria to Reus and would I be around in Àger to go flying with him and a friend who wanted a tandem...so here I am, and what a great day it has been :)
Dirk is part of a travelling theatre group, 'Familie Flöz' in a very stretched van that is completely full of so much stuff that I am amazed that he managed to hide his glider amongst all the the stage equipment, costumes etc. They had a comedy moment opening up the back doors to retrieve the wing as the contents burst out in true cartoon fashion!
Reinhart went on the tandem with Jordi ( who was under instruction to try to make him scream - he failed!! :D ) After a fairly brutal spiral to land, the still quiet Reinhart decided that though it was a great experience he didn't think he would get the bug.
The flying was great fun. Lots of sunshine, light bubbley thermals and made more fun by flying together with friends. The extra-little Vega seems to climb brilliantly even in very light stuff so I was a happy little 'cabrona' - their words not mine! ;-) - floating about above them both. 'Allegedly' the weight I have lost made it easy for me to stay higher, whereas I think it was pure skill and determination :-D .........along with a very big helping of luck ;-)
