Pepe & Didier - our sacrifices to the weather goddess ;)
The Open finished with an amazing results after a difficult last task. The day looked exactly like the last day last year, with little sun, cirrus cloud and nothing much happening in the air. Finally, I managed to coerce some SuperFinal pilots to sacrifice themselves for the greater good and Pepe, Didier & the French team showed us just how tricky it all was.  Though after some more waiting the climbs started to organise themselves and the race was on!
It was a nail biting task with some quivering bottom-lips amongst the top contenders as download was delayed while we tried to extract the lead gaggle from the wrong side of a locked gate and canal.
As the results came through, the top 3 overall became the Top 1 as Sebas Ospina, Julian CarreƱo and Jacques Fournier finished with exactly the same points after a 7 task comp!
Thanks to all the pilots for a great comp .. it was emotional!

The last 2 days have been my holiday! Just 2 days for relaxing, flying, eating and sleeping and catching up with all the things that should have received attention during the previous week.
Though it has to be said that the drive to launch was far from relaxing yesterday as the 'chiva' our local transport coughed its (nearly) last breath on the steep road to Aguapanela and we were decanted into 2 vehicles to finish the trip.
But  I enjoyed a really nice flight, a super quick retrieve and then chilling out while the first rain in months fell on Rolda. The day finished with a nice dinner and wine and early to bed to preparation for the circus to begin! ;)
Today the main event begins with far too many activities in the town followed by registration and the general briefing.
More from me over the next days ...
