Rolda Open: Day 1 Task 1

morning skies: :)
We started early with buses leaving at 7:30 to launch - a surprise for the Rolda newcomers! Unusually for Rolda we have sunshine and cloud base above the mountains at 7am, even the grass on the start place is turning brown. Rold is DRY!!

After various morning logistical hiccups, together with Arnie, Tobbe & Hugo we set an 80km task starting to the north at Higueroncito, back to Roldanillo, north to Toro then crossing the valley to Obando and goal in Zarzal.

The forecast was for strong wind & weather to the south and sunshine, fluffy clouds and light winds to the north but the line dividing the two was a little bit unclear and the final section to goal greeted pilots with headwind when a cross tailwind had been expected.

Conditions are stronger and more turbulent on the ridge than recent years and a few had stories of manoevres on the route to Toro, but the general feeling was one of nice flying and a good task :)
