A good climb out from 2ยช Maria put us in a position with plenty of opportunities, back to the monastery or try the novena out & return. I got completely flushed pushing out front and had to grovel amongst trees, then cows and then rocks to hunt down something that wasn't torn apart by wind and was going up even slightly. It was small and incredibly snotty when i found it but who cares when you are that low...it was a thermal. As it developed and drew in the air in its path suddenly it became easy to stay with, one second a strong cow shit smell, next second less then nothing and then back into wind to sniff it out again, literally! By the time I was back in front of the nose at launch it was going up like a rocket.
The trees on launch were bent over and the flag behind launch seemed in imminent danger of being ripped from the flag pole, possibly it was all a little too exciting being close to the cliffs so I took the climb back toward the ridge behind and then decided for some unfathomable reason that I would top land next to the truck. Whatever made me think that was a good idea I still can't actually imagine. A least the field was huge and slaloming between the big round hay bales was the most fun on a final approach I have had in ages!
