8:30 briefing has become 11am briefing but the sky is full of damp looking stratus clouds just now....
We are all thinking of Paolo in the hospital here. We want to see his happy smiley face and those flapping wings back with us very soon....
11:00 : its raining heavily, the rain drops are about the size of saucers! I'm not dumb enough to go outside and be drowned in the river running down the street but 'most probably' the task is cancelled. Its a day to play 'Gameboy' with the new Compass C-pilot Pro flight computer.
'Just' 7 hours (lots of beeping and only a few exasperated sighs) to set up the screens, acoustics and preferences to do the things we want to do and say them in a voice we like ;-) It seems a really innovative and very flexible instrument with lots of customisable info on a BIG touchscreen - I may start saving some pennies not only for the computer but for a bigger flight deck to put it on! 'Playing' with instruments wouldn't be my preferred way to spend a day but with nothing else to do except sit in coffee shops grumbling about the weather it not been a bad day!
We may be cold and damp and bored but given the weather that has hit the east coast we have been lucky. Rio is flooded by the biggest storms to hit in 4 decades. The airport is closed, cars and property washed away and people have lost their lives being crushed in collapsing buildings or swept away by flood waters. El niƱo is making his presence felt!
The forecast for tomorrow isn't the happy light wind, fluffy clouds variety that I'd prefer but with some luck and determination we might get airborn.
